The fund services and Americas custody community was honoured at the Global Custodian’s 2023 Industry Leaders Awards at Chelsea Piers in New York last night.
JP Morgan and Ultimus each scooped three awards on the evening, while State Street took home two honours.
The ceremony recognised the outstanding performers from Global Custodian’s Prime Brokerage, Hedge Fund Administration (HFA), Private Equity Administration (PEFA), Mutual Fund Administration (MFA) and Exchange-Traded Fund Administration (ETFA) surveys.
Following this year’s inaugural Outsourced Trading Survey, published in partnership with The TRADE, there were also awards on the night for Meraki Global Advisors, TD Cowen and JonesTrading.
The Prime Brokerage survey awards saw category wins for Clear Street, BNY Mellon | Pershing, CIBC Capital Markets and Cantor Fitzgerald, while Morgan Stanley picked up the crystal for Overall Excellence.
There was also recognition for custody banks across the Americas, with Brown Brothers Harriman and BNP Paribas collecting awards for Agent Bank of the Year: North America and Agent Bank of the Year: Latin America, respectively.
Outside of the survey results, outstanding individuals were honoured with personal awards, including Lou Maiuri of State Street receiving the Legend accolade, Citi’s Michele Pitts winning North American Industry Person of the Year and JP Morgan’s Teresa Heitsenrether, who took home this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Editors’ Choice and Innovation awards look to cover the sections of the industry which our surveys do not reach and, subsequently, there were awards handed out for product launches, partnerships and technology developments.
BNY Mellon won the award for Fund Services Deal of the Year, UMB Fund Services picked up Best New Fund Services Project, while State Street took home the crystal for ETF Initiative of the Year. Gen II, Apex Group, IQ-EQ, FundGuard, Paralel, Jaid and Arcesium also received honours.
Global Custodian also highlighted areas of focus within its Innovation awards segment, with StoneX recognised for Innovation in Outsourced Trading, Lukka for Innovation in Digital Asset Services, and Temenos for Innovation in Fund Technology.
