BNY Mellon has confirmed Richard Gill as its head of markets business, EMEA, it’s second high profile move in the markets division in a week.

Last week BNY Mellon announced that Piers Murray, previously of Deutsche Bank, has been named its new chief operating officer for its markets business in the US.

In his new role, Gill will have overall responsibility for managing markets within the EMEA sector and will report to BNY Mellon markets president Michelle Neal, who joined in September last year.

Having worked at BNY Mellon since 1995, Gill was previously BNY’s global co-head of FX trading as well as chief FX dealer.

Prior to joining BNY, Gill also held stints at Barclays and First National Bank of Chicago.

Alongside Gill’s new role, Mark Militello will continue as head of markets in Asia Pacific.

“Richard’s appointment allows us to better balance global and regional considerations in managing our businesses,” said.

“Our senior regional executives in EMEA and Asia Pacific now have dual reporting lines to the head of the region and to the global head of their business. These changes will empower these executives and give them significant input on issues that affect local employees, business partners and clients.”
