Apex Group has appointed a new head of Asia Pacific (APAC) from fund services rival Sanne Group, as it looks to build on the $40 billion of assets it administers in the region.

Valerie Mantot-Groene joins Apex after six years at Sanne Group, having held roles as head of the Singapore and Dubai offices and most recently head of business development for APAC.

She succeeds Maggie Chan who leaves the role after two and a half years to pursue new avenues.

Mantot-Groene has more than 18 years’ experience in investment management. A qualified lawyer, Apex said in a statement she will focus on delivering the firm’s single-source message to the local market across fund, financialand corporate solutions.

The appointment follows the announcement from the securities services provider last week that it had expanded its corporate solutions offering in APAC through obtaining a Trust and Corporate Services licence in Hong Kong. Apex opened its first office in Asia in 2007 and now has seven offices across the region and over 500 employees.

Mantot-Groene will report directly to the global head of fund solutionsSrikumar T.E.

“I am very pleased to be joining Apex at this exceptional milestone within its story,” said Mantot-Groene. “The Group has been on an impressive growth trajectory and the APAC region is ready to leverage the single-source capabilities the Group has to offer at a local level which provides a really unique solution for local clients.”

In March, Apex Group founder and CEO, Peter Hughes, praised the work of the organisation and highlighted how lessons learnt from Singapore allowed it to prepare for what would ensue throughout the rest of the world.
