The newly added emerging market countries added to the Dow Jones Wilshire Global Index Family — Mauritius, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Qatar — ranked 18th, 42nd, 66th and 63rd respectively, out of 157 countries in The Heritage Foundations Economic Freedom Index. The Economic Freedom Index emphasizes and provides supporting data that a countrys economic freedom is strongly related to good economic performance, lower rates of unemployment, and lower inflation, which leads to greater prosperity for its society as a whole. Mauritius alone outranked over 1/3rd of the Dow Jones Global Wilshire Indexes developed countries, which includes countries such as France, Belgium, Germany, Norway, South Korea, Sweden and Spain.
