Jefferies, the investment bank, has hired former Barclays Capital director Andrew Bracey to lead the group’s consumer and retail investment banking division in Europe and the Far East, The Telegraph reports.

Bracey, who led Barclays Capital investment in Somerfield, previously worked at Credit Suisse and UBS. He has spent more than 16 years in private equity and investment banking. Jefferies is expected to make a number of other hirings in the coming months as Bracey builds a consumer and retail team.

“We are delighted to welcome Andrew to lead our investment banking effort for growing consumer and retail companies in Europe and Asia,” says David Weaver, president of Jefferies International. “His expertise, relationships and sector knowledge will make an immediate contribution to our ability to serve this dynamic segment of the market.”

“Jefferies’ strong reputation among growth companies and the firm’s global platform were key factors in my decision to join,” says Bracey.
