Foreign investors’ net purchase of Japanese stocks reached JPY2.1 trillion (USD 19.1 billion) in August, the second largest amount to March 2004’s JPY2.8 trillion (USD 25.5 billion), according to the Ministry of Finance.

It is the eighth consecutive month since January 2005 with the total net purchases of this year, JPY7.92 trillion (USD 72 billion).

In 2005, foreign investors started purchasing in a modest range around JPY 200 billion per month during April- June. The purchases began surging from July, with net purchase of JPY 1.37 trillion (USD 19.1 billion) in July and JPY 2.1 trillion (USD 19.1 billion) in August.
