From the research desk: The journey to next year’s awards begins now

GC Research looks back at last week’s glittering Leaders in Custody event, which recognised the outstanding achievers from our surveys over the past 12 months.

Last week, Global Custodian’s Research team were excitedly hosting the survey awards at the Leaders in Custody (LIC) Awards night. The opulence of the ball room was creating magic, and the night had a buzz about it as the hard work of all our providers was celebrated and their brilliance and innovation in custody services was recognised.

Drawing from the data gathered over the last 12 months, the GC survey awards are based not only on the views and perceptions of cross-border investors on the post-trade services they receive, but also the number of responses, consistency of ratings and weightings

What a night it was, with SIX taking three awards, including Best in Survey Overall, while Standard Chartered Bank took two of the Agent Bank of the Year awards (Major Markets and Frontier Markets) – it was an evening full of glitz and glamour.

The survey-related awards also saw wins for Eurobank, BNP Paribas, HSBC, Intesa Sanpaolo, Deutsche Bank, Mizuho Bank and UBS. By drilling down into the data this year we were pleased to be able to create a range of categories and measures including Best Network and awards covering perceptions by network managers and global custodians.

GC Research had the pleasure of sitting with not one but two winners, with both Proxymity and Tokenbridge winning Fintech of the Year and Fintech One to Watch respectively. Of course, LIC awards are not just about the winners, but about acknowledging the hard work of all the leaders and trailblazers in the industry.

A key contributor for our Survey Awards is the data collected from our Agent Banks Surveys, so as we kick off this year’s round of Agent Banks, our Major Market’s survey is now live and accepting responses. So do get in touch if you wish to participate as a client or a provider. It could be you smiling, while holding a crystal at the step-and-repeat in 2025.

Last year, GC Research saw a record number of respondents take part in our surveys, and this year we hope it will be no different. When it comes to Major Markets there is even more good news, with 2023 seeing an uptick in ratings across the board. It will be exciting to see if this trend continues over the coming 12 months.

The Agent Banks in Major Markets survey is open until 19 August, so we would love to hear from you!
