BearingPoint, Inc., one of the world’s largest business consulting and systems integration firms, has announced the addition of Mark Gembicki as national managing director for critical infrastructure protection to the company’s homeland security practice. Gembicki will provide executive-level management and security solutions to help corporate and government enterprises minimize business interruptions and respond more effectively to legal and regulatory changes.
Gembicki, an accomplished business executive, author, and public speaker with more than 22 years of experience delivering cross-industry consulting services and technology solutions, was most recently the director of homeland security for Deloitte& Touche’s Enterprise Risk Services practice.
“We are extremely delighted to have someone of Mark’s caliber join the ranks of our homeland security practice leadership team,” commented Darryl Moody, senior vice president of homeland security at BearingPoint. “With the addition of Mark, BearingPoint has strengthened its unparalleled foundation of experience across the homeland security continuum, including state and local, federal, and international government agencies, as well as corporations.”
“So much of our country’s critical infrastructure lies in the private sector, which presents business organizations with a tremendous amount of responsibility,” explained Gembicki. “BearingPoint is in a unique position to collaborate with both government and industry and find solutions that protect our nation’s infrastructure, while also helping businesses maintain their competitive edge. In addition, as a recognized leader in the homeland security arena, we intend to foster the development of valuable public-private collaboration.”
A well-known authority in security and intelligence circles, Gembicki’s unique career began as a 16-year-old, when the National Security Agency recruited him as an analyst. Over the past two decades he has served in a variety of roles including: chief executive officer and chairman to cross-industry companies; senior advisor to the U.S. Intelligence Community and Defense Industrial Base; investigator for the U.S. Senate’s Security in Cyberspace Hearings; director of the historic Manhattan Cyber Project; and participant on Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.’s Homeland Security and Economic Development Mission to Israel.
Gembicki joins BearingPoint’s distinguished team of homeland security specialists, including Bob Chiaradio, former FBI executive assistant director, as well as Bob Hickes, former Pennsylvania state police deputy commissioner of staff.
