Morgan Stanley has named Mehdee Reza as head of Asia Prime Brokerage.

He is currently head of generalist cash sales in Hong Kong and will take up the newly created role in late September 2011.

The appointment follows the rapid expansion of Morgan Stanleys Asia prime brokerage business in recent years and will see Reza bringing his experience of covering a wide spectrum of hedge funds globally to the role.

Before joining Morgan Stanley’s equity division as a senior Asia generalist sales person in 2005, Reza was partner of a start up hedge fund in London and held product development and regional banking research roles at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong.

Prior to Rezas latest appointment, the prime brokerage sales, capital introductions and client service teams at Morgan Stanley all reported into Ed Sisterson, regional head of equity financing products in Hong Kong. They will now report into Reza.

Reza will report to Alex Ehrlich, global head of Prime Brokerage, and Sisterson.
