Wim Hautekiet to Succeed Paul Bodart as CEO of BNY Mellon Europe

BNY Mellon has named Wim Hautekiet as CEO of the BNY Mellon in Europe. Hautekiet will replace Paul Bodart, who is retiring after 17 years with the company. Pending regulatory approvals, Hautekiet will take up the new role on Oct. 1 2012.

BNY Mellon has named Wim Hautekiet as CEO of the BNY Mellon in Europe. Hautekiet will replace Paul Bodart, who is retiring after 17 years with the company. Pending regulatory approvals, Hautekiet will take up the new role on Oct. 1 2012.

Bodart will leave on Sept. 30 2012 and will assume a new role as a member of the Programme Board of the TARGET2-Securities (T2S), the European Central Bank (ECB) Project to create a common technical platform for securities settlement in Europe. Bodart has played an active role in European regulatory affairs and, in addition to spearheading industry representation in the T2S project, he has also sat on several committees piloting initiatives launched by the European authorities (T2S AG, CESAME II, COGESI).

Hautekiet is currently deputy general counsel for BNY Mellon across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, a position he has held since May 2004. He has been closely involved in the in the establishment of BNY Mellon European banking entities. Before BNY Mellon he was a partner at Brussels-based law firm Tiberghien (where he was in charge of the banking and finance practice) from 2002 to 2004. From 1998 to 2002 he was managing director and general counsel at Clearstream in Luxembourg. Commenting on his appointment, Gerald Hassell, president and chief executive officer of BNY Mellon said: Wim Hautekiet has a deep understanding of the investment servicing business across Europe and our client needs, and is very well placed to take our European banking entity to the next level of development.

Hassell added: We are delighted that Paul will continue to be active within our industry, in a new role working for the European Central Bank as a member of the Programme Board of the T2S Project. This is an important role that is testament to his knowledge, experience and the standing with which he is held in our industry.

Hautekiets successor will be named in due course.
